David Moyes wants to give Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini a Manchester United debut against Chelsea on Monday.
The Daily Mail says United are set to enrage Everton further by stepping up attempts to land Fellaini and Leighton Baines after an opening £28 million offer was rejected.
The bid, which included nominal add-ons, was made by United chief executive Ed Woodward late last week and valued Fellaini at £16m and Baines at £12m.
That it was instantly and robustly rejected will not deter United, who have a transfer kitty of around £70m.
Moyes is anxious to bolster his midfield, particularly with a game against Chelsea next Monday, and would like to have Fellaini by then.
Yet such is the depth of anger at Goodison Park — which stems back to how United went about appointing Moyes to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson — there is unlikely to be any co-operation, particularly with regard to Baines
